Emergency First Aider at Work (EFAW)
An 'Emergency First Aider' is trained for 6 hours. This is the most basic level of first aider in the workplace. The main areas of the syllabus concentrates on basic life saving skills. EFAW training covers the following topics:
- Acting safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Treating an unconscious casualty (including seizure)
- Chocking
- Wounds and bleeding
- Shock
- Minor injuries
- Cross infection, recording incidents and actions and the use of available equipment
